Women's Volleyball Reels In SCC North Awards--Hollie MVP, Licon Top Libero, Terrill Co-Coach Of The Year

Led by the selections of Biko Hollie as MVP, Emily Licon as Libero of the Year and Mike Terrill as Co-Coach of the Year, Pasadena City College had a record nine players named to the 2024 All-South Coast Conference North Division Women's Vollleyball Team.

One of the state's top 6-rotation players as a sophomore transfer outside hitter, Hollie leads the entire 10-team SCC with 347 kills, total points at 391 (14th in state) and kills per set (3.65) while third in the South Coast in overall digs with 288. Hollie came to PCC after playing her frosh season at NCAA Division I Morgan State University. Earlier this year, she was named a State Player of the Week

The sophomore Licon, a 2-time All-SCC selection who also made the squad in 2022 the redshirted last year, Licon recently became fifth Lancer to achieve 600 digs in her career. She leads the SCC in digs per set at 4.63, making her ninth in the state in that category. Her 41 service aces is #6 in the conference. 

Terrill rallied his team from a tough 5-9 season start to win 11 of its final 14 matches, including a big 5-set triumph over state #14-ranked Mt. San Antonio as #20-rated PCC shared the program's fourth SCC crown under his watch since 2017. In his eight seasons directing the program, Terrill has amassed a sparking conference-only record of 73-22, a .768 winning percentage.

The Lancers appear to be headed to their seventh consecutive trip to the SoCal Regional Playoffs with their official seeding announced on Thursday, Nov. 21. 

PCC (16-12 record) was rewarded for its efforts as All-SCC North First Team nods went to sophomore outside hitter Chayse Hoon, second-year setter Kamea Vongfak, two-season setter-opposite Shaylee Ungosand freshman defensive specialist-libero Juyeon Lee The All-SCC North Second Team included freshmen middle blockers Savannah Curtis and Brianna Galvan (a redshirt) and frosh defensive specialist Marina Segura, who played a few matches at libero. 

Hoon is #2 in the SCC in overall kills (302) and in total points with 322.5. Vongfak leads the SCC in both assists per set at 6.38 (600 total) and aces with 51. Ungos is second on the team in set assists with 275, third in kills (110) and blocks (31), and has added 132 digs (1.81 average). Ungos earned a State Player of the Week award to open the season. Lee averaged 2.11 digs per set and turned into one of the team's best defensive players while also one of the SCC's toughest servers with 37 aces.

Curtis (74 kills and 60 blocks) was third in the SCC in blocks per set at 0.92 while Galvan totaled 102 kills and 55 blocks. Both have been imporant players at the net. Segura is tied for second in the conference in aces with 45 and also is a hard-working defender with a 1.78 average.
