San Antonio, 25-22, 22-25, 25-22, 25-21, Wednesday night in the regular season finale for both teams. The Lancers lost for the first time this year at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium, an 8-match home win streak snapped.

    All of a sudden, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team is hitting with a purpose. The Lancers continued a stretch of impressive, effiicient offense in sweeping Chaffey, 25-18, 25-12, 25-8, Friday on Sophomore Night at PCC. The victory allowed PCC to stay perfect in home matches at 8-0.
  • Women's Volleyball Has Rio Hondo's Number For Third Time

    The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team continues to cut down on mistakes and its paying off with consistent play. On Wednesday evening, the Lancers defeated Rio Hondo for the third time this season and second in South Coast Conference North Division play, 25-17, 25-18, 25-18, at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

    All season, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team had worked on hitting efficiency and accuracy. The Lancers can look back at some matches where attack errors may have been some of the differences a couple of close losses. On Friday, the attack was picture perfect v. Los Angeles Harbor as the Lancers swung an impressive, season-best .493 in a 25-11, 25-15, 25-9, South Coast Conference crossover sweep at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

    While the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team has had its ups and downs this season, one player has been a steady presence on offense. Freshman outside hitter Paige Clingaman has turned into the Lancers top kills leader and she was impressive again Friday with 11 kills and a .435 hitting percentage in the team's sweep over Los Angeles Trade Tech, 25-13, 25-11, 25-14.

    Under first-year head coach Mike Terrill, the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team has made aggressive serving a significant part of its offensive arsenal. That was never more evident than Friday night when Michelle Boyd served up nine of the Lancers' 15 aces in a 4-set win at Cerritos, 25-15, 25-12, 20-25, 25-22. The match was a South Coast Conference crossover meeting.

    The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team had thoughts of first place in its heads, leading 2-0 in sets early on against then state No. 17-ranked (now 19) Mt. San Antonio on Friday. Unfortunately for the unranked Lancers, the host Mounties mounted a comeback and took over sole possession of first in the South Coast Conference North Division with a 21-25, 21-25, 25-9, 25-14, 15-9 victory.

    It wasn't pretty, but the Pasadena City College women's volleyball team overcame 15 attack errors and 10 service errors to win its sixth straight match Wednesday night. The Lancers are undefeated in South Coast Conference North Division play after a 25-23, 25-21, 25-15 sweep over East Los Angeles College at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

    The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team improved to 3-0 at home and 7-5 overall with a straight sets victory over Santiago Canyon, 25-14, 25-22, 25-16, Friday night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. All of the PCC home wins have come by sweeps and in a 3-day span.

    Pasadena City College women's volleyball head coach Mike Terrill couldn't have asked for a better script for his first home matches at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium. At the PCC Quad Tournament Wednesday, his Lancers dominated both Citrus and Ventura Colleges in sweeps to up the Lancers record to 6-5 this year.

    The Pasadena City College women's volleyball team split its two matches at the Moorpark Quad Tournament held September 3. The Lancers swept Allan Hancock, 25-16, 25-17, 25-17, then had their 3-match win streak stopped by host Moorpark, 26-24, 25-23, 25-10.
  • Rivera Hits Record 30 Kills, Women's VB Opens 2-2 At Pierce Tourney

    Sophomore outside hitter Rayleen Rivera accomplished a feat Saturday that had never occurred in Pasadena City College women's volleyball history. She landed a school record for kills in a match with 30 in a 5-set victory over Chaffey. Rivera's 67 kills overall in four matches helped the Lancers finish 2-2 as consolation champions at the season-opening, 2nd Annual Pierce College Kickoff Classic held Aug. 26-27.

    Pasadena City College has selected Mike Terrill as its new women's volleyball head coach pending PACCD Board of Trustees approval next month. It is the first head coaching position for Terrill, who has served as a top assistant coach at the NCAA Division I level for the past seven years.
