The Lancers (17-11) earned the No. 14 seed and will host #17 seed Cuesta College in Round 1 of the Southern California Regional Playoffs on Wednesday, Feb. 27. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

The visiting Lancers beat state #23-ranked LA Trade Tech for the second time in conference play, 80-73, to even their SCC mark at 4-4 and up their overall record to 16-10.

    In a tight contest leading 19-15, the Pasadena City College men's basketball team worked it around until Josiah Woods swished a 3-pointer from the corner. The next trip down Giovonni Jackson launched in a trey from the top of the circle. Then Patric Panoosi liked what he was seeing and he netted back-to-back triples. Then it was backup Rod Terry's turn and he added three 3s himself. In all, PCC made nine 3-point baskets in a wild first half and went on to beat Rio Hondo, 80-65, Friday night at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

On Wednesday, Chaffey's 6-foot-8 center Manu Oulai proved a little too much for the Lancers, scoring 24 points and grabbing 14 rebounds to send the Lancers to a 78-69 loss at Hutto-Patterson Gymnasium.

PCC matched its victory total of last season in only 15 games (10-5 record).

    For the first 23 minutes, Pasadena City College battled host El Camino College as the two teams were tied at 43-43 in the South Coast Conference men's basketball crossover contest. The Lancers then stepped on the accelerator, scoring 17 unanswered points over the next four minutes on their way to a 90-63 victory. Pasadena outscored the Warriors, 54-27, in the second half.

    Dan Ayala, who coached the last Pasadena City College men's basketball state champion team in 1969, passed away Monday due to complications from a heart condition. He was 81. Ayala succeeded the legendary Jerry Tarkanian as PCC head coach and won the state title in his debut Lancers season.
